The Indian in-charge of the British judicial custody also leaves with Kundan in a buggy guarded by his troops. On their way through the forest, they are attacked by masked men giving an impression that they are against Kundan reaching the court.
Laxmi Bai and Tatya Tope who are also taking the same way to the court see the commotion. They immediately come to the aid of the British troops.
The officer manages to escape but is noticed by Laxmi Bai. Tatya Tope goes towards the buggy and finds that an effigy has been kept in the place of Kundan.
The officer turns out to be a traitor. He goes to the place where he has tied up Kundan and picks up a dagger to kill them.
Laxmi Bai reaches in the nick of time and overpowers the officer. The officer falls at her feet and begs forgiveness. Kundan pleads to Laxmi Bai to kill the officer but she forgives him.
Laxmi Bai and Kundan proceed for the court. The episode takes a shocking turn when the ungrateful officer removes his gun and shoots Kundan in the back. Kundan is severely injured.
Meanwhile, the judge gets impatient waiting for Laxmi Bai to arrive with the evidence. Lang tries to convince him but the prosecution states that the defense intends to waste the court's time.
The judge is about to pronounce his judgment when Laxmi Bai arrives with a severely injured Kundan on horse back. She asks Lang to present him as a witness.
Lang goes up to Kundan but turns to Laxmi Bai disappointed. Kundan is already dead.
The judge pronounces his judgment. He declares Samar Singh and Karma guilty of the murder of Captain Ross and orders that they by hanged to death. Laxmi Bai is distraught while Nelson rejoices.
The court pronounces that Samar Singh be hanged until death for the murder of Captain Ross.
while being taken to the prison Karma pleads to Nelson to hang him instead of Samar Singh. Samar tries to stop him but Karma persists.
The shrewd Nelson offers to toss a coin to decide between Samar and Karma. The coin is tossed and the result is in Karma's favor. Karma rejoices but Samar stops him. He says that he is proud to become a martyr and is leaving the reins of fighting for independence in Karma's hands. He asks Karma to live and fight the British till his last breath.
Nelson scoffs at them and takes them back to the prison.
The news of the death sentence for Samar Singh reaches Gangadhar Rao in Kanpur. He immediately leaves for Jhansi.
In the prison, Samar Singh is greeted by the inmates. He inspires them with patriotic words and asserts that he is happy to be martyr for his motherland.
In a surprise turn of events, the ferocious Jwala and Fateh Khan raise slogans hailing Samar Singh. The entire prison reverberates with cries of victory to Samar Singh much to the concern of the jailor. Nelson, however, wards off his apprehensions saying that it is Samar Singh's anxiety before death.
In the heat of the moment, Laxmi Bai reaches the palace and picks up her sword to wage war against Nelson. However, Motibai stops her and reminds her of the oath she had taken to be a mother to Gangadhar Rao's children and not a warrior. Laxmi Bai halts and determines to fight Nelson using her intelligence over power.
John Lang assures Laxmi Bai that they will be able to free Samar Singh by filing a mercy petition on his behalf. They approach the relevant authority who says that the process will take considerable time and that it is impossible to do it at a short notice. Laxmi Bai gets enraged hearing this and thunders that nothing is impossible. Meanwhile, the slogans hailing Samar Singh continue to reverberate in the prison.
A maid informs Laxmi Bai in the that a man is eager to tell her about Samar Singh and is waiting for her in the secret chamber.
Laxmi Bai rushes to the chamber. The man is an Indian who works as a guard in the British jail. He tells Laxmi Bai that he serves the British for bread and butter but is loyal to his motherland. Laxmi Bai asks him the name of the prisoner with whom Samar Singh was housed. The guard tells him that it was Fateh Khan.
With the help of the guard, Laxmi Bai enters prison disguised as a British officer. She initiates conversation with a pious Fateh Khan who is offering prayers at the time. She reveals that she is Laxmi Bai much to Fateh Khan's surprise. Laxmi Bai asks him if Kundan had revealed anything to him about Samar Singh. Fateh Khan tells her how Kundan had stolen the pendant that Gangadhar Rao had gifted Samar Singh. He had then handed over to Nelson who murdered Captain Ross and planted the pendant in his hand. Laxmi Bai is stunned with this revelation.
She goes back to the palace and hands over the guard a mercy petition and asks him to get it signed from all the inmates. The guard obliges and accordingly hands over the signed document to Laxmi Bai on the day of the hanging. However, ill-fate awaits him. Nelson witnesses him handing over the papers.
Laxmi Bai rushes to Lang who hands over the documents to the British officer who would process the papers for Samar Singh's mercy petition. The officer asks them to wait until 9.30 am until the court opens.
Realizing that Laxmi Bai would get the mercy petition in time to save Nelson, the treacherous Nelson prepones the time of hanging to 10 am.
The guards take Samar Singh to hang him. All the inmates burst out in slogans in Samar Singh's support. Fateh Khan and Jwala assure Samar Singh that he will be set free and not hanged.
Laxmi Bai reaches the prison but is told that Samar Singh has already been taken for hanging. She is shocked to know that Nelson got the time preponed.

Laxmi Bai rushes to the place where Samar Singh is about to be executed.
Not withstanding the fact that he will soon face death, Samar Singh is satisfied that he has done his duty towards his motherland. He walks towards the gallows reciting patriotic compositions.
On reaching the place, Laxmi Bai calls out to Samar Singh. At that time, Samar Singh is being taken away by the guards. Samar Singh rushes to the wall separating him from Laxmi Bai and tells her that he is happy to be martyr. He says that his death will inspire the people of Jhansi to rebel against the British thus giving the movement that Laxmi Bai had initiated momentum. Saying so, he moves away.
Laxmi Bai tells him that she has secured a stay order to prolong his hanging. However, Samar who has already moved away does not hear her.
Laxmi Bai then addresses the subjects of Jhansi waiting outside the premises where Samar Singh is to be hanged. She inspires them to wage war against the British and not let Samar's martyrdom go waste.
Before going to the gallows, Nelson asks Samar his last wish. Samar retorts that his last wish to drive out the British from the country will be fulfilled by his fellow countrymen. Samar Singh is hanged to death. Outside, Laxmi Bai prays to God so that Samar Singh's soul may rest in peace. The subjects are still shouting slogans hailing Samar Singh when Gangadhar Rao arrives.
