Gangadhar Rao of Jhansi is unable to come to terms with the death of his child. He has given up on his fight for freedom. The queen's attempts to resurrect his sagging spirits go in vain. He will be brutally murdered and Jhansi will mourn the loss of their leader.)
the Raj Vaidya warns Laxmibai that Gangadhar Rao's condition was deteriorating with every passing moment and the King required advance treatment.
Major Ellis appears with the British doctor. The King refuses to consume the medicines. The British doctor is left in a quandary since Gangadhar Rao's condition was turning critical every second.
Gangadhar Rao wishes to crown Anand and asks the pandits to proceed with the ceremony. Laxmibai rejoices on learning about the King's wish.
Sundar informs Laxmibai that she was not wearing her nose ring; essential for all married women. Just as Laxmibai prepares to adorn herself with the ornament; she spots Gangadhar Rao lying motionless.
The Raj Vaidya declares Gangadhar Rao dead. Laxmibai rushes to meet the soothsayer and tries to find out from him whose death he had foretold. Laxmibai finds the soothsayer dead too.
The King's death is announced throughout Jhansi. Lord Dalhousie informs Ali Bahadur about Gangadhar Rao's death. Dalhousie asks Ali Bahadur to rush to Jhansi and feign grief at the King's demise.
The Raj Vaidya informs Tatya Tope that Laxmibai had forsaken the life of a queen and resolved to lead the life of a hermit. Tatya Tope gets worried and hopes that Laxmibai would change her decision. Vahini saheb confirms the news with Laxmibai.
Laxmibai recalls the moments spent with Gangadhar Rao as she performs the last rites of her husband.
With Gangadhar Rao dead, Ali Bahadur decides to march on Jhansi. In his address to his soldiers, Ali declares that the Queen has decided to renounce the kingdom after the King's death. However, resistance was expected from soldiers and aristocrats loyal to the deceased King, Ali asserts.
Laxmibai tells Moropant that Gangadhar Rao will always remain with her in her memories.

Unaware of the trouble heading their way, Laxmibai, Tatya Tope, Moropant and other aristocrats offer their last respects to Gangadhar Rao. Even as the Jhansi's subjects mourn the death of Gangadhar Rao, the Queen's decision to lead a life of ascetic causes them more concern. Even as the last rites are held, Laxmibai changes into the garb of a widow.
Ali Bahadur march on Jhansi is initially successful and he is hailed as the King of Jhansi. Ali Bahadurrejoices at the fact that he is happy tofulfill Lachcho Bai's dream.
Tatya Tope is alarmed on hearing about Ali Bahadur marching towards the palace at the head of an army.
Tatya Tope informs Laxmibai about the invasion. However, Laxmibai pays no heed to Tatya Tope. Fearing the worst, subjects of Jhansi flock to the palace and beseech the queen to take necessary step.
Ali Bahadur commands his soldiers to proceed towards the palace of Jhansi.
Gangadhar Rao's words resonate in Laxmibai's head. She visualizes Gangadhar Rao motivating her to fight. He also reminds her about her struggle to safeguard the kingdom of Jhansi.
Ali Bahadur and his soliders reach the palace of Jhansi. Jhansi army takes on Ali Bahadur's army.
Gangadhar Rao's appeal motivates Laxmibai to fight against Ali Bahadur. Tatya Tope and rest of the aristocrats are pleased on hearing the queen's decision.
Major Ellis tries to stop Ali Bahadur from entering the palace. When Ellis's attempt fails, Tatya Tope and Raghunath take on Ali Bahadur's soldiers.
In the midst of the fight, Ali Bahadur tries to plant his flag on the palace. However, his plan is foiled by the queen. On seeing Laxmibai, Ali Bahadur gets sacred and runs away.
