TUESDAY UPDATE ON THREE SIDES OF ANA EPISODE 78-79
While Iñaki and Santiago get good and snakkered (I love this Norwegian-based term, snakker=talking/speaking) on two bottles of a most expensive brand of tequila, discussing the vices and virtues of Ana Leticia versus Ana Lucia, Ana MiMi has a major meltdown over her missing Marcelo whom she believes must be in his mistress’s arms. Ana Not-So-Lucky, meanwhile, is examining SanMarco’s wedding ring and musing the meaning of the inscription: Ana Leticia. “--Must be his wife’s name.” (Ding-ding-ding!!!) And, Orlando, as usual, is sticking his obnoxious and greasy oar in where it is not wanted.
Orly begins bugging NSLucky about the wife and unskillfully points out how perfect people at Danzaire think they are as a couple. That’s only for the particular performance. He doesn’t get it. “—Not all taxis that pass by are free. His has a passenger in it already.” (Apt yeah but he doesn’t stop there.) He inserts himself as the best alternative to Mr. Alter-Ego. (As Hubby always tells me, even the ugliest man thinks himself an alpha-male, totally irresistible if only the woman involved would remove her blinders. –In his case, I’d rather keep them on.) The only thing of interest for Ana NSL is that he mentions he knows who Ana Leticia is-and Orly plays his hand pitifully, if not pitiably.
Yaki and SanMarco discuss Ana NSL taking his ring from him and putting him in Dutch with her sister for “losing” it. He cannot go home now. Listen to me, says Yaki, I don’t sermonize like Ramiro, but I give you decent advice. SanMarco wants to follow it and grab Ana Lucia and just go to places unknown for the rest of their lives, he says, but he’s got nothing to offer her. Besides, they’d be fugitives for life, especially as there’s still somebody out there looking for him. Not a life she deserves, ya know? Marcelo needs his revenge, though, and is who shows up when he's in need of an answer. Darn it all.....
Orly mentions that Ramiro told him back in San Nicolas once about A Lemeeeeee, when they first met, that she was from a wealthy family and well-connected. She knows that much, says A NSL. He’s going to hurt her badly one day, but he won’t say more. Well, it’s not his place to tell her the rest of it. (Shees! Never is!) She gets pissed and tells him to stop wasting her time. He’s there for her when the time comes, ready to continue with the rejection and insults—cuz he’s her friend. Just remember I told you so….
Back at the manse, Ana Laura and Ramiro have a discussion of whether A Lucia and she sense each other subconsciously at any time. On the other side of the city, meanwhile, A NSL hears music coming from Nerina’s room. Nerina philosophizes on the connection with various sentiments in life: sadness, happiness, nostalgia. It can be miraculously medicinal; it can show us what we have to lose; it can nourish the soul; it allows us the means to continue dreaming and hoping. (This music is beautiful and is a perfect counterpoint to the message beling delivered. Bravo to the A team of writers and music editors at Uni for including this scene.)
Back at the manse again, over tea/coffee, A Llora mentions that Valentin’s problem is believing that Ram was secretly Gina’s lover while they dated. She mentions that she cleared that error up and Ram reminds her that with Gina, anything could be expected (but is always a big surprise to one and all). They also discuss doing something wild like a weekend fling by themselves.
Across town at the foundation, TinTin has asked Val to dinner and she’s agreed. They’re heading off in a taxi as Ram’s papi, crooked Edmundo, waits in his car in the shadows. After they’ve gone, he uses his key-holder status to get into the building and her office, then gets on Val’s computer and transfers funds to some credit card from a bank in gawd knows where.
Yaki keeps SanMarco at his apartment and has him stay the night. Santi says the battle between him and his alter ego continues daily. He says he’s really ill and doesn’t know what to do. (Viewerville suggests looking for psychiatric help, but then what do we know, right?)
The next morning, A MiMi has A Llora call Ram to ask if he knows where Marcello is. Ram says no, but he plans to find out and will let her know. A Llora mentions that Ram has suggested going away with him for the weekend, but she has her doubts—especially since The Family wouldn’t approve. A MiMi is like, hey you’re an adult now--and so is he. Might as well enjoy your first time with a man with the one you love, and so do what you like; but on the other hand, maybe it’s not such a good idea. A MiMi then, to make her point, maliciously holds up the metal leg and suggests that seeing this might make eager-beaver Ram limp and wimp out in the end. Bummer. ~end parte 1~ ===========
Parte 2~~ Ram pays a visit to Yaki’s bachelor pad looking for SanMarco. He has found him and blames Yaki for causing trouble between Marcelo and Ana Leticia on purpose, hoping it will drive the two of them apart. So what if he did? Shame, shame, is Ram’s self-righteous reply. He goes into the bedroom to wake up Santi but comes out with Marcelo The Mean. He tells Ram he’s well aware of what Yaki did the night before and why. It’s not the first time his wife’s seduced a buddy of his… Ram says he’s apologized already for that. But not to me you haven’t. Alright, says Ram. I apologize. Marco’s fine with it. He knows the reasons. He married a scorpion (and for once I gotta agree to a very apt use of this expression). Let’s move on. They head over to Ram’s apartment so Marco can shower and borrow some clothes. He’s got lots to do and so little time for it.
At the manse again, Ernestina thinks about the fortune-teller’s mentioning a third sister. Papi was busy gettin’ busy all over the place and there were three sisters, not just her and Leonora, she tells Leo.
Ram and Marco discuss integration of the two personalities and Ram says yeah, this is possible and not to fight it. Marco says nope. He won’t allow it. Besides, he’s got to get his bit of venganza. The guy/s who planned his death have got to be made to pay for it all. He lost three years of his life and he is still in danger. He leaves without telling Ram anything more about that. Oh, and yeah, let Ana Leticia suffer a bit more with his absence. Tell her you saw me and I won’t be home tonight again, either.
In Uptown, Viridiana wants Soledad to come that evening to the dress show to assist with last minute needs of the models’ gowns. By the way, she adds, have your daughter come also. Sole calls home to pretend to invite her and cuts Ana NSL off at the knees by lying about her answer that she really cannot come and gives her apologies. Dumb A NSL thinks this call is very strange and relates all to Rem and Nerina. Rem makes excuses to cover for Sole, but Nerina plots to go herself and find out what she can to supposedly help learn more about Ana Lucia’s family.
Miranda begs Erni to come to the fashion show that night and she finally agrees.
Rodrigo calls Horny old Sanchez about finalizing the sale of his coastal properties. Ram shows up and takes a call from A Lemee asking if he located her hubby. Ram says yes but he’s got bidnez to take care of and won’t be home again this evening either. She accuses Marco of spending the night with his lover again. Ram says she’s wrong and tuff tootsies if she refuses to believe that. As she’s called from her office, Yaki’s heard the conversation and sticks the knife in her back and twists. She gets ticked off at Yaki and heads off to gripe at Tío Mariano about her hubby hassles. He promises to question Marco the next time they’re together again. She guilts him with her spoiled brat ways and wiles her way back into his good graces again. (Blech!! I need another shower. ¡Basta! Really? He’s not bothered with her going seductively with his shirt buttons????)
A MiMi surprises Mo by telling her she’s not only aware he and Erni been hiding the ID bracelet as supposed proof of Ana Lucia’s probable existence, but she’ll head the charge to find her. Erni is dressed to go to the fashion show and once A MiMi learns it is Viridiana whose creations are being shown, she agrees to attend with Erni and Mo.
Tío tells Erni about A MiMi’s decision to help locate Ana Lucia, who’s enthused by the change of attitude.
Scheming MiMi, meanwhile, races to call Claudia, the blond bombshell we wondered about, the good news. Mo’s to be at the fashion show with her this evening and it’s a great way to insinuate herself with moneyed Mo and wind up as the Mrs. Mo. Seems Claudia’s already gotten her invitation and will see her there.
Meanwhile, Ram and A Llora run into Valeria and TinTin at the concert. TinTin invites them to join them at the restaurant and A Llora agrees over Ram’s initial objections.
Miranda and Cardio Hubby grouse over her plans to get Rod and Erni back together again using the fashion show and the reinauguration of the hotel as the means.
Nerina arrives at the Gala but is stopped at the gate since she doesn’t have her invitation. However, she’s saved by Claudia, who, Viewerville isn’t too overly impactado to learn, is Nerina’s errant daughter. “--She’s with me. ¡Hola, Mamá!”
TinTin maneuvers again and makes it clear to Ram he still blames him for stealing Gina and now A Llora from him. Ram reminds Violentin about the stalker pictures on the wall of his apartment and all the empty liquor bottles. How did TinTin get them off the wall so quickly if he cannot walk? Oh, TinTin’s got somebody who looks out for him who helped and yeah, he’s much more than a simple accomplice!
In the bar prior to the event’s beginning, shameless Claudia insults her mother’s 10 year old jacket. “—Some things never go out of fashion, I know, but don’t you think you could have worn something other than a 10-year old jacket?” Well, the earrings she left her are nice enough, at least, she figures. Nerina swallows back the tears and suggests she wasn’t quite able to be so extravagant, considering how her children stole everything she had and left her out on the street. Claudia, who has changed her surname to avoid suspicion of who she really is, insists that ma was a wastrel, spending her inheritance on a man who was on his deathbed from an incurable disease. What else could she do to stop her and to know how much was really left? “--Bad kids but a pain for a mother. Champagne? ¡Salud!”
In the meantime, Marcelo makes a nighttime visit to Ana Lucia’s to warn her to end her fight for Santiago’s love which is the only thing that seems to keep Marco from conquering his alter ego once and for all. Ana Lucha tells Marcelo to drop dead (again?) and no, she’s never giving up on her Santiago, no matter what. Marco warns her that love has got to die once and for all. Why is he there and why did he fall in love with her if he loves his wife—Ana Leticia, the name on the wedding band. It’s because they are so much alike and so different all at the same time. Santiago is only a small part of who Marcelo truly is and he knows she cannot live with him this way. Santiago is a weaker, tinier, part of him and he’s not giving in to that little snippet of whom he really is. She refuses him and to stop fighting for Santiago to emerge and come back to her.
He won’t say more but what he knows will end up hurting her and disgusting her so much she’ll let Santi go for good. All he’ll do to give her a clue to the truth and all the lies that surround her now. “—You are not unique. Oops, I should say you are not the sole daughter. (It’s a play on the word único/a.) If you want the truth, then begin by asking Soledad about Sofia Hernandez. It’s her daughter.” Her mother had another daughter? He tells her if she’s so interested in getting at the truth, then pull that thread loose. When you know the truth about Sofia Hernandez, then is when you’ll know your own past.
Back in the hotel’s bar, Nerina learns the truth about Valentin. Claudia admits she’s changed her last name and also blames her mother for turning TinTin into a good-for-nothing. Nerina insists that trashy hussler of a girlfriend was Valentin’s ultimate disgrace and his reason for turning into such a loser. Claudia has to admit she was always right about Gina, She squeezed every last peso out of him before she abandoned him, but that slutty, grafter of a girlfriend of his has paid the price. She committed suicide and is long dead now; and Valentin is now a paralytic, stuck in a wheelchair, playing the oboe in the park every day for handouts.
~~end parte 2~ ====================== parte 3~
Said errant son de TinTin maneuvers his way into the front passenger side of the car. Evil music accompanies the wheelchair’s being put into Ram’s car trunk.
Before Marco leaves the rooming house he takes something shiny (the key to the safety deposit box?) out of Santi’s closet and makes to leave. He runs into Remedios and greets her as Sra. Rem is frightened in the change and knows that’s NOT her Santiago. A Lucha agrees it was Marcelo who showed his face tonight.
The so-called “Fashion Show” begins. Erni, Mo and A MiMi show up fashionably late –oh, and don’t pardon that pun. What’s a worse pun is calling this show a fashion show. It’s the worst of the worst in dress design I’ve ever seen Uni present. It’s no wonder Mo stood up clapping and cheering Bravo! He was out to impress. Maybe it was the 1080p of my HD tv, but the dress material looked cheap and the poor models looked not only starved, but as photogenic as wooden beanpoles sans the beans. Anyway, during the auction, Claudia, Mo (who recognizes her), and Scheming MiMi vie for the dress. A MiMi takes it at a mere 100,000 pesos, which is approximately $5500.00 US. (Whew! Thank gawd! I don’t feel quite as bad and deprived, now.)
Claudia fills in Nerina on Mo’s reputation and relationship to A MiMi. He’s her very wealthy, envied, and much sought-after prize: great husband material and Claudia has her eye on him. She plans on corralling the dude and quickly becoming the next Mrs. Mo.
Meanwhile, A Lucha remembers her mother’s odd behavior and her once mentioning this Sofia Hernandez and denying she knew that name. Ana begins searching high and low for her mother’s locking jewelry box. Rem catches her and tells her it is wrong to look for it and even wronger not to clean up the mess before Sole returns home and is wise to the search.
Backstage, Soledad is the arranging dresses that were auctioned off and avoiding going out front to congratulate the models in hopes of not meeting up with anybody that might manage to put her and A Lucha’s relationship in danger or herself behind bars.
Suddenly, she hears someone enter and then a voice that sounds like A Lucha but when she looks up she realizes that she’s now not face to face with her “daughter”—definitely NOT a sweet faced angel like Ana Lucia. No, it’s one of the two other triplets—and the WRONG one, at that!
